Pastoral Associate Formation Program – Archdiocese of Baltimore
The Archdiocese of Baltimore received a grant for the formation of pastoral life directors and pastoral associates in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The intent is to validate our lay ecclesial ministry and work to raise up emerging leaders and form them in the pastoral associate ministry for the benefit of the Archdiocese and the people we serve. The goal is to develop leaders who have a heart for and a personal knowledge of areas that currently are under-served or people who are currently under-represented in ministry.
The grant anticipates fully funding students in a process of formation in the Archdiocese as well as completing a master’s degree in theology or related field at the Ecumenical Institute, St. Mary’s Seminary and University. Candidates can be either full-time students or part-time students/part-time employees at parishes in our Archdiocese.
Applicants to the program need to apply to the Ecumenical Institute and apply to the Archdiocese for the grant. In addition to their coursework, candidates of this program would need to:
- work with a spiritual director
- participate in an approved annual retreat or spiritual/ministerial conference
- attend certain Archdiocesan events through the year
- meet with Director of Catechetical and Pastoral Formation periodically throughout the year
- attend monthly formational webinars as provided by the Archdiocese
